About the program

The Tuberculosis(TB) Family Care Program empowers families to care for TB patients by providing them with easy-to-understand educational tools. These resources guide caregivers in TB prevention, medication adherence, and emotional support, ensuring better patient outcomes and reducing the spread of the disease.

Challenge

Educational Barriers: Many families are unaware of the complexities of TB care, particularly in under-resourced settings, making it difficult for them to effectively support their loved ones.

Cultural Sensitivity: The program had to account for diverse linguistic, cultural, and regional backgrounds to ensure widespread acceptance and understanding.

Behavioral Change: Ensuring that family caregivers adopt new practices, such as medication management and infection control, was key to the program's success.

Medical Approach

We developed clear, culturally relevant TB educational tools to support caregivers and healthcare providers, ensuring easy comprehension and practical use. Through real-world testing and digital interventions like WhatsApp-based medication schedules and IVRS follow-ups, we improved treatment adherence and infection control.

My Role

- Designed training modules for DTOs & STS, enabling cascade training.
- Contextualized TB content for Goa, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.
- Developed WhatsApp & IVRS-based adherence schedules for follow-ups.
- Ensured practicality and scalability through rigorous testing and refinement.

This initiative strengthened TB care and treatment adherence, making a lasting impact.
